FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Technology & Benefits
Are LED PRO lenses a gimmick or are they backed by real science?
LED PRO is not a gimmick. It has been developed by Younger Optics: one of the world’s largest independent lens manufacturers who are responsible for many optical lens world firsts and are trusted by eyecare professionals worldwide. LED PRO is the result of serious research and development to be the world’s first patented clear ophthalmic lens designed to selectively absorb LED light. The technology targets the two most disruptive LED peaks linked to glare and fatigue (450 nm and 590 nm).
How do LED PRO lenses work?
LED PRO uses patented selective absorption technology to target the two LED wavelength peaks — 450 nm and 590 nm — which are most strongly linked to glare, eye strain and visual fatigue, impacting visual clarity and performance.
Instead of blocking broad sections of blue light, LED PRO concentrates on absorbing these disruptive peaks while allowing the rest of the spectrum to pass through. The result is clearer, more comfortable vision with natural colour, brightness and contrast maintained in any LED lit environment.
What is the difference between LED PRO and regular blue light blocking glasses?
Most blue light blocking glasses block broad chunks of the spectrum, which can make vision look dim and colours look unnatural. LED PRO is different because it focuses on the two narrow LED peaks that cause problems. The result is sharper contrast, true colour and greater comfort without the drawbacks of broad blue light blocking lenses.
Does LED PRO absorb blue light?
Yes. In addition to reducing LED glare, LED PRO selectively absorbs potentially harmful blue light while maintaining overall clarity and colour.
Do LED PRO lenses also block UV?
Yes. LED PRO blocks 100% of UV rays meaning your eyes are protected outdoors as well as indoors.
Who makes LED PRO lenses?
LED PRO is developed by Younger Optics, one of the world’s largest independent lens manufacturers. With over 70 years of innovation including breakthroughs like NuPolar® polarized lenses and Transitions® Drivewear®, Younger Optics is trusted by eyecare professionals worldwide.
What are the benefits of LED PRO in everyday life?
LED PRO helps to reduce glare and eye strain from LED headlights, TVs, gaming screens, computer monitors, bright overhead lighting… virtually anywhere LED light is present. By easing the effects of modern LED exposure, LED PRO delivers sharper contrast, more natural colour and lasting visual comfort all day, every day.

No. LED PRO is the lens component only. LED PRO lenses can be fit into your existing or new frames by your independent optometrist.
What is the LED PRO range?
LED PRO is currently available in 1.60 and 1.67 high index materials. Using freeform digital processing LED PRO can be suitable for both single vision and progressive lenses. Consumers should check with their optometrist, while eyecare professionals can ask their independent optical laboratory.
Do I need a special coating with LED PRO lenses?
For the best look and performance, we recommend pairing LED PRO with an anti-reflective coating. This makes the lens almost clear while maximising comfort.
Appearance & Tint
Do LED PRO lenses have a tint?
LED PRO lenses are designed as clear everyday lenses, with the advanced absorption dye creating a very subtle green hue. This is a natural part of how the technology works and with an anti-reflective coating the lenses appear almost clear on the face to others. Wearers don’t perceive the slight hue; they just notice the reduced glare, sharper contrast and more comfortable vision.
LED PRO is classified as a Category 0 lens – the same category as standard clear lenses – with a visible light transmittance of nearly 90% with anti-reflective coating. As a Category 0 lens LED PRO can be worn for all everyday activities including driving – day and night.
How much light do LED PRO lenses let through?
With an anti-reflective coating, LED PRO lenses achieve almost 90% light transmission and are officially classified as clear lenses (Category 0 – the same category as clear lenses). This means wearers get the full benefit of selective LED absorption without any meaningful reduction in brightness or clarity.
Will other people notice the subtle hue of LED PRO lenses?
Unlikely. When paired with an anti-reflective coating, LED PRO’s very subtle green hue appears almost clear on the face. Most people will not notice it at all.
Will the subtle hue affect my vision or how I see colours?
No. With an anti-reflective coating, LED PRO achieves almost 90% light transmission and is classified as a clear lens. Colours remain true and accurate – what you notice instead is reduced glare, sharper contrast and more comfortable vision in LED lit environments.
For Drivers
Are LED PRO lenses good for night driving?
Yes. LED PRO softens the harsh glare from modern LED headlights, improves night contrast and reduces eye fatigue. This helps you to see road details more clearly and drive with greater confidence and safety after dark.
Can I wear LED PRO while driving during the daytime?
Yes. LED PRO is designed as an everyday clear lens, so it can be worn comfortably while driving at any time of day. In fact, with an anti-reflective coating, LED PRO lenses provide almost 90% light transmission and are classified as clear lenses.
However, in bright and sunny conditions you may prefer sunglasses or polarized lenses for additional glare protection.
How do LED PRO lenses reduce LED headlight glare?
LED PRO selectively absorbs the two LED peaks most linked to glare, eye strain and visual fatigue (450nm and 590nm) – all of which impact visual clarity and performance. By targeting just those wavelengths, LED PRO keeps your vision comfortable and natural without dimming brightness.
For Gamers
Are LED PRO lenses the same as blue light blocking glasses?
No. Blue light spans 380–500 nm and is categorised as High Energy Visible (HEV) light. Unlike broad blue light lenses that block broad chunks of the spectrum and can dull brightness and distort colours, LED PRO absorbs blue light selectively at approximately 450 nm within the blue light range that is most associated with LED light sources. The result is sharper contrast, true colour and greater comfort without the drawbacks of broad blue light blocking lenses.
Does the subtle tint affect gaming or colour accuracy?
No. LED PRO delivers true colour accuracy – a key advantage over amber or yellow gaming lenses. Brightness and fine detail are preserved, so you see every HUD element, enemy movement and game environment more clearly and naturally.
LED PRO has a very subtle green hue that is almost invisible on the face and imperceptible to wearers. But it makes a big difference. By selectively absorbing disruptive LED peaks, LED PRO helps reduce glare and visual fatigue, meaning gamers can enjoy sharper and more comfortable vision during long sessions under LED lighting.
